Mum of three Jay Kerai joined No Letting Go as an inventory clerk six months ago providing property inventory reports and check-in services for Letting Agents and Landlords around London and the Home Counties. She had been working as a data analyst for a pharmaceuticals data company in a pressured environment that was quite stressful. When the company made some redundancies at the end of last year Jay decided it was an opportunity to look for something different that would bring her more flexibility and a better fit around her three children aged 14, 13 and 8.
“As you can imagine my life is very busy; I am constantly in the car running my children to their various activities and I am also a level 2 qualified football coach so there are a lot of commitments to juggle. Whilst I didn’t really know much about the role of being an inventory clerk I do have an interest in the property sector, I am a Landlord and understand the importance of an accurate and properly recorded inventory to protect the both the landlord and the tenant.”
“I particularly enjoy the flexibility of the role, being out and about. No two days are the same and I am constantly meeting new and interesting people. I’ve met actresses, writers and even a band in my day to day work! The range of properties also keeps things fresh and interesting. I’ve visited some stunning properties that have had amazing make-overs that inspire me. I am effectively my own boss and not micro-managed, it’s rather like running your own business. On a typical day I’ll probably do between three or four inventories/check-outs but there is an ebb and a flow and typically the end and beginning of months are busier as you would expect with tenancies ending and starting. No Letting Go provides me with a car allowance and I do my reports on a tablet so I am able to work efficiently and without paperwork. I take a lot of photos as these are an important part of recording the condition of a property.”
“I am much happier now, I have more time to spend with my children and at the same time an interesting and varied job that I enjoy. It’s a perfect job for a mum who wants to have an income without compromising her family.”
